How To Measure Your Composite Door__________________________________________________________________________________________
If you are more into the DIY state of mind and you really want to install your own Composite door from start to finish, we want to offer you the utmost guide to ensure the whole experience for you is seamless and effortless.
We are developing a series of videos to help you follow the steps exactly and these will be ready shortly.
In the meantime, read all our instructions below.
FIRSTLY - you need to measure the opening of the HEIGHT and the WIDTH. It is critical that you measure the exact brickwork opening and not the old frame or door.
Also along both the height and the width, ensure that you measure AT LEAST on 3 different places and then deduct 10mm from the most logical place (please see the video below to understand what we mean by the most logical place - it is not always deducted from the minimum width or height measured).
It is ideal to allow an approximate 5 mm fitting allowance around the new frame and this will ensure that your door sits nicely within the frame opening. On installation, you will then need spacers and fillers to secure the frame in place and fill any gaps that may be there.
IF YOUR DOOR SITS NICE AND SQUARE AND THERE IS LITTLE VARIANCE IN MEASUREMENT ACROSS THE FULL HEIGHT AND WIDTH, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW
1 - MEASURE THE WIDTH AT THE TOP, MIDDLE AND BOTTOM (3 places) AND TAKE THE SMALLEST - FROM BRICK TO BRICK
2 - MEASURE THE HEIGHT AT THE TOP, MIDDLE AND BOTTOM ( 3 places) AND TAKE THE SMALLEST - FROM BRICK TO BRICK
3 - DEDUCT 10 MM OF THE ABOVE TWO SMALLEST MEASUREMENTS

How To Measure Your Composite Door With Side Panels
You need to take the measurements as described above for starters BUT you also need to measure the side panel width from the centre point of the frame, between the door and the side panel to the outer edge of the side panel frame.

How To Measure Your Composite Door With a Top LIght
You need to take the measurements as described above for starters BUT the top light depth should be measured from the top frame to the middle of the panel between the top light and main door. This is called the TRANSOM drop for the top light.
